NORTH AMERICAN
LOCOMOTIVE WORKS
Welcome to North American Locomotive Works. We are a Trainz content website specializing primarily in the Steam era. NALW Formed in 2019 under no official name. Eventually I gave it a name the following year. I primarily focused on 3-part hornsounds, until fast freight productions came around and I got blown out the door. I still try. but to no avail. Then I found blender, and a whole new door to content creation opened, Anything was possible since then.
FAQs
Can your content run in TANE? Yes, all my models are developed for TANE and then tested for TRS19/TRS22 Compatibility. I like to have the best of both worlds. TANE might be a decade old, but I still see so many using it.
Why won't you do Trainzmesh/PBR? Because I personally find it ridiculous to do 4x the work to get the same result I can get with normal mapping. I do not like the trainzmesh format because it is difficult for me to work with. I could care less if it's the standard of content creation nowadays. You do your modelling how you want, I'm making my stuff My way.
Do you do commission work? No, I do not. Why? Because I do not see myself as good enough for commission work. I still struggle with building certain parts of a locomotive. I'd rather wait until I am good enough to start doing that.
Do you hate JR? No, I do not. That was a site contributor making unauthorized edits to my pages. He is no longer permitted to contribute. Yes I had a couple inconvenient moments with their fanbase, but not JR themselves.
Would you ever Model modern diesel locomotives? No, JR and RRMods can do that. They are more experienced in that area of railroading.
